• Welcome and thanks for visiting 123 Paw.

About me...I grew up in the country and I’ve always been a little (or a lot) animal crazy in a home filled with  a small menagerie from chooks, ducks and geese, dogs, cats, rabbits, a kangaroo, tadpoles & frogs, cockatoos, lizards and horses with my favorites’ being dogs, horses and cows.

Ive always had a special love for dogs and the joy that they bring to our lives. Moving from the country to Perth enabled me to become involved in volunteering with dog rescue, which was quite an eye opener, at the time I'd never realised there were so many people out there with 'problem dogs' and when out and about with my wonderful dog, Zak  I was often stopped at the park or the beach by complete strangers  and asked if I was a dog trainer and 'how did you teach your dog that?'....This got me thinking about the things my wonderful  Zak could do.  I'd never really thought about 'training' or 'how' i actually did it, it was more based around having fun and learning new things together but it planted the seed.

This lead me to complete my Certificate IV Training and Assessment (great for working with people) and the Nationally Accredited Certificate IV Companion Animal Service -Dog Training under the mentorship of the fantastic Ken Storrs (trainer of the trainers) and begin my own dog training journey to help dogs and their people live a happier life together and since then I have completed my Level 2 Proprioception Instructor's Course under the guidance and tuition of the fabulous Sam Turner, Paws 4 Fun, Netherlands.

Looking back and without knowing, my  'training approach' actually incorporated the science based positive reinforcement methods I use today.

Every dog is different and everyone teaches us something, the learning never ends, nor would I want it to and as trainers we should be continually building on our skills and knowledge, the more we know, the more we can share and this can only be a positive in helping companion dogs and their people to live a happy life.
